Palms Of Providence: A Mighty Tree

Palms Of Providence: A Mighty Tree

And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet… (Exodus 15:25a)

I walk with her to the well for the bitter water that does not quench the thirst. for the bitter water that brings the curse. Every morning, we wake up with a white puffy cloud of hope of leaving behind the errs of our ways. In the heat of the day, with the fatigue that won’t go away. we go. in the pain that we try not to feel. with the wounds that will not heal. Breathing in the despair in the air. we set out. One foot in front of the other, we traverse; and our feet get stuck. in the muck. and the mire. and we tire. of the fight, of our plight.

Our cloud. of hope. dissipates. and we resign, to failure. of leaving our ways we long to leave. With shame, we lower our waterpot into the deep well, and of the waters of Marah, we drink. and sink into the cavity. of our depravity.

But the mighty tree cast Himself into the sea. of our depravity. Made the bitter water sweet for she. and me. and thee. Reached down with His Branch, plucking us, His desire, out from the muck and the mire. Cradling us with His healing green leaves, carrying us, His sheaves.

We.still. hear Him proclaiming, continually exclaiming,

O ye of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? (Matthew 14:21b)

We sit down, now, under His shadow, with great delight. For the fight of our plight and the dry hot winds ceased. To our great relief. despair is no longer in the air. For The Cloud. of Hope. like a hand. rests upon us. Clothing us, like the grass, in His Righteousness.

The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree… (Psalm 92:12a)
