A Brief History

We were just an ordinary family.  Until we were not.  We were a typical family living in the midwest.  Until we were ripped.  Into pieces.  Moving.  Away to escape Pain.  Only Pain followed us... from the wings of the dawn to the far side of the sea.

We are a family of five.  Torn apart and shattered.  By Pain.  We are a family of five torn apart and shattered.  By Beauty.

We have learned that no matter where we go, Pain resides.  In the eyelids of our morning, in Missouri; and on the far side of our sea, in Hawaii, Pain abides.  Lives and breathes where we are, stretched out in the four corners of the wind.  We also have learned that no matter where we go, Beauty reigns.  Rules and moves the four corners of the winds, the earth below, and the heavens above.

And so we have decided.  To stop.  Running.  Hiding.  From Pain.  And from Beauty.  We turn our face towards them, turn into both the darkness and the sunlight, and no longer turn away.  We pull the hair behind our ears to listen, and choose not to ignore, anymore, Pain and Beauty.  We lift our eyes to see what they bear and what they bare.  We open our hands to bear the gifts and experience the blessings they bare. We embrace their gifts of connection and inspiration and strength.  And their blessings of glory and honor and power.  Bestowed in the midst of the land of the living.  We live.  The Bare Life.  A wonderful-hard and hard-wonderful Life, Baring Pain. Baring Beauty.  This is our story.  A story too hard to run and hide from.  A story too wonderful to escape.  A Life.  Too Painful.  Too Beautiful, not to bare...
